Diet and Nutrition: Are You Confused, Too?

The components of health: feeling good and eating well!

Here’s my opinion on the tremendous amount of conflicting nutritional advice that we’re exposed to today: beware of fad diets and make friends with well-balanced, sustainable nutrition.

What do I mean by the word sustainable? I mean a diet that doesn’t remove an entire family of food, such as all carbohydrates or all fats. The body needs a balance of nutrition from a variety of food sources, but our bodies are also marvels of adaptability when we deliberately deprive them of what they require. This is both a blessing and a serious problem.

Tremendously Taxed by Poor Nutrition

When we embark on fad diets, a spiral of physical problems begin to unravel, such as

  • Over-exertion of certain organs
  • Loss of energy
  • Ketosis
  • Liver damage
  • Pancreatic dysfunction
  • Kidney damage
  • Osteoporosis
  • Hardening of the arteries
  • Gastrointestinal issues

Weight Watchers Is a Good Choice

If you feel that you must be on a diet, the one I endorse is Weight Watchers. It encourages well-balanced nutrition and it’s also something you can follow for the rest of your life. You also won’t be hungry all the time!

I also highly recommend using only local produce. It’s picked at peak ripeness, when the nutritional value is at its highest. (Frozen fruits and vegetables are also good choices) Produce purchased in grocery stores are usually harvested while they’re still “green” to slow down their potential for deterioration, but this also causes a plummeting in nutritional value. They’re then shipped thousands of miles to your local grocer and treated with chemicals to give them eye appeal. Yum!

Nutrition and Chiropractic for a Healthy Life

The body’s fuel source is through good nutrition for optimal energy. This is where a good, sustainable diet is necessary.

The body’s innate source for optimal function is through a perfectly oiled machine called the nervous system. This system, if it’s running well, provides health, maximized function and the ability to repair and regenerate. This is where chiropractic care excels, in maintaining nervous system integrity through optimal alignment and balance.

You don’t have to be confused any longer — these are the two most important pieces in today’s health care puzzle! Contact Capps Chiropractic Clinic to learn more.
